Spacer (mushroom head) for wooden honeycomb frames for a 5mm gap. Spacer made from beech wood. Bees often heavily propolize metal brackets. Less propolis is used when these wooden spacers are used. Drill a 4mm hole in the frame at the desired location and glue in the spacer.

Spacer / Mushroom Head made of Wood 5mm

Spacers for honeycomb frames are used for the correct arrangement of the frames and combs in the beehive. A 5mm frame spacing is preferred for combs with 28mm wide bars (top bars), creating a comb spacing of 32/33mm (center of comb to center of comb). A spacing regulation in organic beekeeping is therefore no longer a problem; avoid plastic and metal and use a natural and environmentally friendly solution. The bees appreciate the use of wooden spacers by reducing propolizing, which significantly facilitates the handling of bee colonies.

Application / Installation of the Spacers:

The spacer has a fastening pin with a diameter of 4mm and a length of 6mm. This can be attached with some glue in a hole (3.5 - 4mm diameter and at least 6mm deep) on the honeycomb frame.
