Zander honeycomb box from Stehr
The Stehr Zander honeycomb box for 6 Zander honeycombs with a 477 mm long upper beam and 220 mm frame height measures 50 x 27.5 x 32.5 cm. It is made of rigid foam (white polystyrene) and is ideal for multiplying colonies and transporting offshoots.
The propagation box has a 340 x 60 mm ventilation grid with a mesh size of less than 2.9 mm, which is glued into the base, and a lid. The lid is secured against slipping by a rebate and thus offers particular safety when transporting the bees. A slider made of hard foam can be rotated 180° and used both as an approach board and as a flight hole closure. This slider is designed so that it disappears into the bottom of the feeder during transportation. Cast-on feet at the back and front as support beams (approx. 2.5 cm high and 6 cm wide) ensure that this box stands firmly and is well ventilated even on long journeys. Many customers have tested the transportability of the propagation box over long distances and the propagation box has proven to be very effective for the transportation, shaping and overwintering of propagation plants.
The laying box can hold 6 frames with a comb spacing of 35 mm. When using small-cell bees with a comb spacing of 32 mm, 7 frames fit into the laying box.
We recommend painting with a solvent-free paint before use. All acrylic paints are suitable, a test on a non-visible area on the bottom of the hive box is recommended.
Additional equipment: Feeding trough for approx. 6.5 l of feed syrup or feed dough.
