Segeberger universal bottom with aluminum grid as a flat bottom for Segeberger beehives
This further developed universal bottom from Stehr is technically perfect. It can be used as a flat bottom or with a high bottom attachment for the beehive. The Varroa grid is a full-surface plastic grid with a slight slope towards the entrance hole. This makes it easier for the bees to remove waste and mites can fall through the entire surface of the grid. As additional equipment, a foam drawer can be inserted from below to control the fall of mites and waste and also for thermal insulation. A foam approach board can also be used as additional equipment. The flight board is recommended as it makes the approach easier for the bees and prevents the forager bees from landing in wet grass and clamming up in cool weather. The approach board offers the bees a good approach even in adverse weather conditions. The entrance hole is normally 20 mm high and as wide as the inside of the hive.
