Queen breeding is a supreme discipline in beekeeping. One of the important points is the proper mating of the queen in mating or on selected vouchers. One of the most discussed topics is the mating box. Whether as a honeycomb box or multi-honeycomb box or in the offshoot, the young queen bee has to spend her first days of life like in paradise in order to then provide 2500 or more pencils a day. This mating box for 4 queens is a compact mating unit. The Mini-Plus frames are separated from each other by slats. Each unit has its own entrance hole facing in a different direction. The additional colored flight hole discs further improve the orientation of the queens. The floor is fitted with a stainless steel grid for transportation, but can be closed with a heat board after installation to provide ideal conditions for the small bee colony.

The Kiel mating box is a 4 comb mating unit for queen bees. The narrow walls on the inside ensure that the bees do not obstruct the sides of the combs. A simple cover strip with initial strips therefore serves as a frame.

Top frame suitable for the Kiel mating box. If the queen is not immediately discarded after mating, the space can be extended with this frame. In extreme cases, a small colony that can overwinter can be created by attaching several frames.
