Zander frame for the Combi hive from Stehr
I would like to buy a bee colony. The beekeeper who wants to give me the colony has German standard size. But I have Zander colonies myself. This is no problem with the Combi hive from Stehr. Various brood chamber and honey chamber frames are available for this hive system, all of which have the same external dimensions of 540 x 450mm. The frames are butt-jointed. It is therefore no problem to convert a colony to a different comb size.
How do I proceed? The frame with the comb size of my stand is placed on the bottom of the hive. I simply place the colony with the old comb size on the frame with the desired comb size. After the queen has also laid brood in the lower room, I push the barrier grid in between. The queen naturally goes into the lower brood chamber. After the brood has hatched in the upper room, the combs there can be removed.

Before use, it is recommended that the hard foam polystyrene is coated with a solvent-free paint. The frame parts should be glued together for better durability. Normal wood glue can be used for this Purpose.
